Still Waiting

It’s been about a month since my last blog post but feels like so much longer. I hate that I haven’t been creating anything, or sharing anything, and am especially upset that all the content I had planned for Christmas never came to fruition. Here’s a little bit of why and what’s currently going on.

We are currently waiting – still waiting – to find out where the military will be moving our family this year. As is the case every couple of years, we know it’s coming but we can’t plan or prepare or even start researching important things like schools, neighborhoods, day-care, jobs for me, etc. until we know to which city/state/country we will be moving. This has been consuming all of my energy, creative and otherwise, since October and only in the last month has it started taking a toll on my body as well.

I came down with a cold a week before Christmas. All my usual tricks – homeopathy, exercise, special teas – didn’t work and it ended up hitting hardest just 2 days before Christmas and lingered until the second week of January. I don’t recall the last time I was so unwell. As for my creative energy, it’s all but completely disappeared under the oppressive weight of being stuck in limbo and the all-consuming thoughts of ways to get around the one barrier preventing us from getting our orders.

One thing I do have going for me is my eternal optimism. I have been praying all day everyday over this miserable, slap-in-the-face, unnecessary situation and know it will end up alright. The initial horror of it has now worn off since I started writing this post two weeks ago, but still remains a constant thought – we won’t be here by the end of summer, but who knows where we will be. It’s just relentlessly frustrating.
