Our little Lilly is so inquisitive these days – as are most babies and toddlers! Her current interests include light switches, outlets, cords and other potentially dangerous things around the house! To satiate her curiosity and help feed her rapidly growing brain, Nate and I decided to combine all her favorite dangerous things in a safe way for her to explore. I give you …… the busy board!
Today – June 23rd, 2018 – marks 6 years that Nate and I have had in wedded bliss!
Ok that might be a stretch. Anyone who is married can pretty much agree that marriage takes work, lots of work. Hard work.
But is all the hard work worth it?
Yes. Every. Single. Time.
Father’s Day weekend was full of summer fun! Saturday was spent at the pool and Sunday was spent at a fun little place called National Harbor.
Living far away from friends and family isn’t always that great. Loved ones miss out on births, parties, awards ceremonies, recitals, graduations, baptisms and all the little moments that make life so incredibly sweet. With family in Ohio and us living in Maryland (for now), we are at least closer than we have been for the last few years. Still, schedules don’t always permit even a quick weekend visit.
What this winter lacked in snow, this spring has made up for in rain! However, the few days of clouds, thunder and the wet stuff that we’ve had lately is nothing compared to the weeks and sometimes months of rain that we would get growing up in Ohio.
Back then, I couldn’t stand rainy days. I would always feel so disappointed waking up to a dark gray day. I could never find the energy or positivity to appreciate anything about rainy days, and just saw the rain as a hindrance to living life to the fullest.
Attending college online while being a stay-at-home mom, moving to three different states and running a house (and now, planning our dream vacation!) certainly comes with its challenges. I need to be self-motivated and organize my day or nothing is getting done. It’s also very easy to get distracted by all the things that need taken care of around the house like organizing, cleaning, decorating; and things I’d rather be doing like playing with the kids, being outdoors, or online shopping (my kryptonite).
With all of these distractions and a full to-do list, it’s easy to lose motivation to sit still and get school or work done, but when I have an assignment due or tons of reading ahead of me I use a few strategies to break the distraction and find the motivation to get the job done. So here it is, a list of the 5 ways to find motivation to get the job done!
It’s day one of being a blogger…can I call myself that yet? With a head full of ideas and a stomach full of excited little butterflies, I am so ready to open up my world and share the best bits of life with you!
Though you’re joining me on a journey that began almost 6 years ago when I married Nate, the best is still yet to come. Which is precisely why I started this blog – to keep friends and family in the loop even though sometimes we’re hundreds or thousands of miles apart! Such is military life though, and I’m not complaining!
