Second Day- Hampton Court Palace

On day two of our London adventure we woke up to a beautiful, cloudy, 60ºF morning…in July. Perfect summer weather if you ask the hubby and I!

Classic British weather for a visit to a classic British icon.

Hampton Court Palace has been #1 on my list of places to see in England for well over a decade now! I am a Tudor history nut, so it has always been my dream to visit the home of the infamous King Henry VIII and his six wives.

First Day – Kensington & Notting Hill

Great Britain has been #1 on my list of dream travel destinations since I was about ten years old. Way back then, a schoolmate brought back pictures of Stonehenge that his family took on their trip to England and at that moment a lifelong obsession was born. Though my ideal trip involved a month-long tour through all of England, I conceded to just four short days in London for the first leg of the trip and then another three days in Edinburgh. I am going to do a post for each day, filled with some of the hundreds of photos we took, detailing where we went, what we did and other exciting things like that!

How to make a busy board for little ones

Our little Lilly is so inquisitive these days – as are most babies and toddlers! Her current interests include light switches, outlets, cords and other potentially dangerous things around the house! To satiate her curiosity and help feed her rapidly growing brain, Nate and I decided to combine all her favorite dangerous things in a safe way for her to explore. I give you …… the busy board!

4 Patriotic looks for the 4th of July

Independence Day – arguably my favorite warm weather holiday and the day when the entire U.S. population dons their red, white and blue to celebrate the birth of our nation!

Happy 6th Anniversary!

Today – June 23rd, 2018 – marks 6 years that Nate and I have had in wedded bliss!

Ok that might be a stretch. Anyone who is married can pretty much agree that marriage takes work, lots of work. Hard work.

But is all the hard work worth it?

Yes. Every. Single. Time.

How To Be There For Long-Distance Loved Ones

cookies

Living far away from friends and family isn’t always that great. Loved ones miss out on births, parties, awards ceremonies, recitals, graduations, baptisms and all the little moments that make life so incredibly sweet. With family in Ohio and us living in Maryland (for now), we are at least closer than we have been for the last few years. Still, schedules don’t always permit even a quick weekend visit.

Saturday in Georgetown, D.C.

DSC_0302-2

Georgetown has been on our list of places to check-out since we arrived in Maryland one year ago. We took a gamble over the weekend as there were storms in the forecast, but we didn’t want to postpone our adventure anymore. Built in 1751, Georgetown is full of gorgeous Georgian style architecture – one of my favorites! Not to mention, tons of shopping and places to grab a bite to eat! I’ll give you the speed-visit version of a day in Georgetown, as our 1-year-old, Lilly has needs and isn’t afraid to scream to let everyone know! So with the tiniest one’s comfort in mind, we started with lunch.

Rainbow Fruit Pizza

It’s Memorial Day weekend and that means summer is officially here! I think it’s safe to say that everybody enjoys summer festivals, backyard barbecues, community events and the ease of getting together that the warm and sunny weather brings. What’s my favorite thing about all of these summertime activities? FOOD. I love trying new foods just as much as I enjoy the classics. Which brings me to the topic of this post, rainbow fruit pizza! Juicy rainbow fruits top a sweet strawberry cream cheese spread, all delicately placed on a sugar cookie bed!

Lilac for Spring

I have been planning this post for a few weeks now and am so excited to finally get it all on the blog! It has to do with one of my favorite things…fashion! I don’t fancy myself an artistic or creative person per se, however clothes allow me to express what little artistic creativity I can muster and I love it! Since we are living on a military budget, I’m not quite able to satiate my inner desire for a fully stocked, coordinated and exciting wardrobe. So when something I’ve been hunting for months or – in this case – years pops up, I pounce! Which brings me to this lilac skirt.
