To think that just a few months ago I was in a conundrum about what my everyday, all-purpose summer sandal would be after getting rid of any remaining notions of wanting the ubiquitous Hermes Oran sandal, and having not experienced much luck last year in finding a decent sandal to carry over into this summer season. Little did I know what lay ahead, as I discovered the Sarah Flint Mirjana sandal and promptly ordered my first pair; a white leather flat style, and the rest is history!

A newer style in the Sarah Flint repertoire, the ‘Mirjana‘ flat sandal features a darling leather bow detail across the vamp; immediately, I was drawn to it. The bow is a refined, timeless accent that’s interwoven on the shoe providing a touch of feminine elegance. It’s a style that does not ebb and flow with trends or appeal to just one niche; rather stands alone as something utterly beautiful across the span of years and aesthetic tastes.

All of Sarah Flint’s shoes are handmade in Italy by artisans who have been at their craft for generations, most in shops that have been in families for equally as long. Design features of the Mirjana include a gold outline which frames the insole, and gold branding for a special touch that shines with each step. Though not designed to be a “comfort shoe” or marketed as a walking shoe, I do find these flat sandals to be extremely comfortable for long-term wear thanks to the cleverly disguised elastic on the leather vamp that allows for plenty of stretch. Recently, we explored a historic home here in Virginia, and my gold Mirjanas carried me through house and graveled garden for hours, then off to lunch with no discomfort in the slightest.

The break-in period …does not exist. The Mirjana is comfortable and ready to wear straight from the box! This can even be said for my first pair, which is a smaller size than I really should have ordered. Which brings me to sizing advice. If you have a very narrow foot, I would suggest taking your usual size, or sizing down if you are between sizes. For a medium width foot with average instep, size up a full size. This is what I did with my second pair of Mirjanas – the gold leather – and they are truly the perfect fit.

Sarah Flint makes a variety of beautiful colors in this style, and next on my list is the stunning saddle leather! She also came out with an elegant wedge style Mirjana for occasions that require a more dressy shoe option.
