Easy Festive Office Look

All December long I enjoy finding every possible way to incorporate a little bit of festive Christmas cheer into my daily outfits. It’s during this very brief festive period that I wear all the reds, sparkles, and plaids that I can get my hands on – it makes this festive season even more delightful! I put together this easy, comfortable, and really simple festive office look using my go-to color palette, neutral, with one of my favorite festive pieces, my cashmere Stewart tartan scarf that I picked up in Scotland a few years ago. It’s such an easy way to make a really simple outfit look tailored to the season or occasion.

Shop the look: Blazer | Scarf | Shirt | Belt | Pants | Bag | Shoes

Writing this post I’m realizing this is basically an ad for J. Crew, as the entire base of this outfit is from one of their stores. The blazer is a steal from the Factory store – under $100 for a cozy wool-blend in a timeless color and cut; this piece is a must have for fall and winter! Next is this super simple basic poplin button-down from the retail J. Crew store. I am a white blouse hoarder, but I really wanted the scarf to be the hero here, so I opted for this simple shirt over one of my more elaborate statement white blouses. I don’t love J.Crew poplin, it’s really crisp and can even be audibly noisy, but the price is good and they always go on sale so it’s worth having at least one as a backup. I do however, really love these pants! If you are required to dress business-casual or greater on the dress code scale, you need these trousers! They come in lots of colors and they add new shades and fabrics as the seasons change; they’re as comfortable as PJ pants, as elegant as trousers, and come in regular, petite, and tall lengths so they seem by all accounts to be tailor made (it can be our little secret that they’re off the rack)!

Another very subtle festive touch is the velvet belt with gold buckle that almost disappears and takes nothing away from the scarf and blazer – I really felt that my go-to Gucci belt would have competed too much with the outerwear. I always choose accessories with gold hardware; it keeps everything in my closet completely interchangeable and cohesive. I’ve rounded out the neutral theme with my saddle brown handbag, and fall-staple cap-toe pumps, adding texture and classic elements to this basic neutral look.

xo, Mia
