Hello, Fall!

Featuring a neutral outfit styled for fall + Sarah Flint Natalie flat review.

Despite my best efforts at prolonging summer, fall has arrived as of today. While the weather isn’t much different, still warm but hovering so delightfully in the upper 70s and low 80s, there is an undeniable change in the air. In Costco the other day, I was shocked (why though) to discover Christmas trees, big baubles, and lawn ornaments for the festive Christmas season displayed front and center. Pumpkin spice flows out of every grocery store shelf, and of course, social media is a buzz with longing talk of sweaters and boots. Normally by the end of summer, I’m over the heat and totally ready for all the fall things, but not this year.

Sarah Flint Natalie flat in Saddle Vachetta

One thing I am enjoying right now is exploring all of the wardrobe possibilities with my newest flats, the Sarah Flint Natalie in the perfectly autumnal saddle vachetta leather. I mean, have you seen a more perfect ballet flat? Neither have I! I waited the longest time before getting these shoes hoping to find a cheaper version that is just as good, and it just doesn’t exist. I looked for 3 years…they don’t exist. The leather is sturdy yet flexible and moves with your foot without pinching or puckering, the subtle details like extra padding, and the chic bow detail make these absolutely timeless as well as comfortable. I am a true size 8(38) and found that I needed to size up a full size a 9(39). They will stretch out and relax in width but they will not get longer, so if yours feel short when you try them on, or crunch your toes when you walk, get a size up. The Natalie flat currently comes in 8 colors and multiple materials including a limited edition beaded pair that is just spectacular! It really is all about the small things right now; making sure I’m put together and presenting myself as elegantly as possible is currently my favorite way to lift my mood and take one more worry off my plate. I’ve found that these shoes are my favorite way to elevate my early-fall ensembles because know I’m tackling the day looking chic and classic!

About the dress, because this darling thing was under $30, and it’s one you need for fall! Black and cream are usually not a color combination I gravitate towards. Even in fall and winter when everyone is breaking out the black, I’m not but this year I felt inspired to try a proper fall color palette. This outfit was actually inspired by the designer of these gorgeous shoes, Sarah Flint herself, after she shared a daily look on Instagram with a similar style dress and these exact shoes. It just so happened that later that same day I stumbled upon this dress in store and didn’t hesitate to bring it home to recreate her look, for less!

The dress is a lightweight cotton, faux-wrap silhouette with 3/4 balloon sleeves, and matching sash. The bodice has a hook-and-eye closure for modesty and perhaps best of all, it has pockets!!

I really love the the way the saddle brown accessories soften the black in the dress, and just how autumnal the whole palette is here! It’s taking my love of neutral dressing to the darker end of the spectrum, and I’m quite enjoying it this year. Gold jewelry adds warmth to what could otherwise be a dull palette, and of course the shoes add the most elegant touch.

For work, a business/business-casual event, or weekend, I’m confident these shoes and this dress will help you feel a bit more optimistic about the changing seasons – after all, playing with new color palettes and prints always gives me a fresh wave of inspiration. No to mention, you’ll exude timeless grace and be comfortable all the while! Happy Fall, friends!

xo, Mia
