Where I’m shopping for this summer’s swimwear & my favorite finds.
Each year I like to add at least one new swimsuit to my very small collection. In a year, a person’s body and style can change a lot, and I find this to be completely true for me regarding swimwear every year when summer rolls around. At any time I have no more than 4 swimsuits in my closet, and all but perhaps one are new styles, new cuts, and usually a different size than what I’ve previously worn. Is anyone else like this? Personally, I’ve always had a tough time finding one pieces that fit comfortably or practical for all-day wear. On the other side, I’m not a fan of skimpy swimwear, and skip that entirely. It’s a really difficult balance trying to find something that fits with every designer’s sizing being completely different, something that looks appropriate, is also comfortable, and has classic yet unique design elements. This year, I’ve had some great luck finding gorgeous swimwear that satisfies all of those tricky criteria, and have been spoiled for choice with stunning prints and designs from independent retailers like Dondolo, and Minnow, and my all-time favorite Loveshackfancy! It sounds like a tall order but I’ve been searching all winter/spring long and have found a few pieces I like, and know you will like, too!
Tips for choosing the right swimsuit:
If you are two different sizes on top and bottom, order based on whichever size is larger for one-pieces and two-piece sold as a set.
Follow the designer’s size guide and check out reviews; know your measurements, too.
Take note of the bottom coverage – full-coverage is what most women prefer in terms of comfort and modesty.
Pear shaped ladies look great in swimwear with lots of detail on top; frilly straps, smocked bodice, peplum, etc.
If you are between sizes, you usually want to size up.
