Elevated Loungewear

The chicest neutral joggers you’ll ever find.

I think I speak for all of us when I say my wardrobe and daily outfit choices became all over a bit more casual during 2020. We started the year with tie-dye sets and graduated to the romantic nap dress by the time fall rolled around. We’ve shopped for new WFH wardrobes, and prioritized finding casual yet still stylish and a bit better than basic staple pieces to suit our new primarily homebound lifestyle; I think we even invented the term elevated loungewear as a result! Being too comfortable all the time however, has become a bit tiresome and if you’re anything like me the sight of tie-dye now makes you a bit nauseous. I think we’re all ready to get back to dressing up, and can totally relate to the whole “when you look good, you feel good” adage. Personally, when my outfit is coordinated, utilizing my favorite colors, and figure flattering cuts, I always feel 100% better mentally than when I’m in, say, exercise clothes or ultra casual wear. That’s not to say I’m against owning a few good lounge items. In fact, I recently found an item that has become one of my all-time favorite casual buys! These jogger pants won me over from first look, and reaffirmed my buying decision the second I tried them on. They’re the perfect marriage of casual yet still stylish and very chic.

The Details

In the past I would have looked right past these knowing how poorly jogger style bottoms typically fit and feel on me. On my petite, pear shaped figure baggy pants with horizontal seams running across the legs were formerly an absolute “no” as these are details that usually shrink the appearance of the leg and that’s one thing I don’t need! I can’t tell you how many pairs of joggers I’ve returned and how many times I’ve told myself to just give up the search. Well, I had for a while. Until I saw these.

What initially caught my eye was the gorgeous neutral color. Beige is a notoriously difficult color to find just the right shade in, and often times it’s a more seasonal shade that simply will not work any other time of the year. These pants had all that and a bag of chips. They are a perfect neutral beige with zero undertones to suggest these belong to any particular season – huge bonus points for versatility – and the details give them the look of being much more expensive than they are; you’d never guess these are under $70!

Details such as the tuxedo stripe down the side lend a major dose of sophistication to an otherwise strictly casual pant style, and the chic beige color only amplifies that. They also come in black, if that is more your speed. Deep front pockets and two back pockets are great practical considerations, as well as the elastic tie waist band, which is also supremely comfortable, as you can imagine! The material is a lovely light-mid weight which is great for this time of year and perhaps even cool evenings on the beach. Being cotton, it is also breathable which truly makes these a great year-round pair of pants. I’ve saved the best feature for last though – the material. These pants are made with 95% organic cotton! And that was what pushed me to hit “buy,” completely disregarding all of my past jogger-related horrors. Organic cotton is farmed and grown without the use of toxic chemicals, many of which linger in the fibers of clothing for longer than the garment’s lifespan, and is both healthier for you and your skin, and the environment that God has given us dominion to be good stewards over!

The Fit

I was so desperate to try these that I took the closest size to my usual size small that they had in stock at the time I placed the order, which was an XS. I don’t wear an XS in any bottoms and am always a size 4/26-27/Small across the board. I will safely say that these run large as this XS fits perfectly! The waistband is neither loose, nor snug and I still tighten the drawstring so that it fits more secure; there is enough room in the thighs and calves that movement is unrestricted and the pants do not get stretched throughout the day. The length is meant to be “ankle” length, and as I am 5’1″ these hit below my ankle but are not so long that extra material is piling up at my calves like every other pair of joggers I’ve tried; they are definitely petite friendly!

Maybe you are in need of a spring refresh for your chic at-home workwear, perhaps you are looking to create a capsule of elevated loungewear, or have a hard time finding organic cotton clothes for lounge or exercise. Whatever boat you find yourself in, these inexpensive but excellent quality pants will surprise and impress you! Which color would you choose, black or beige?
