The Dress That Makes Me Feel Like A Disney Princess

In early 2020, I discovered my newest favorite brand for all things bed, bath, and lounge during a random internet search for some cute striped towels. From this brand I’ve purchased a few of my favorite items I own; my candy striped towels, pink puff sleeve lounge set, the only headband that doesn’t give me a migraine, and my plaid nap dress that carried me from Thanksgiving to New Year in high-style.

When the brand introduced their pre-spring collection in an “English Garden” theme, as you can probably assume, I jumped all over it. I ordered two dresses. The first was the sleeveless silhouette named “Ellie” in a pastel trellis print; a grandmillennial gal’s dream print, in the most flattering sleeveless silhouette. Sadly, as I do wear these “nap dresses” outside the house as day dresses, the white material ended up being a bit too sheer for my comfort. I’ve spoken to a few other ladies who have no problem with the opacity and are confident that nude undergarments will do the trick. I, however, have to consider the ridicule I would undoubtedly face from my two observant little girls if they even caught sight of London or France, so I opted to return the dream dress, and try my luck with a darker color fabric.

I give you the Nesli in pale blue check; WOWZA what a color! With heavy pink undertones in my skin, blue is actually quite a difficult color to wear as it makes me appear much more red than I am. This hue works, and not only that, it’s gorgeous on. Keep scrolling for pictures that show this magical little detail a bit better, but there are silver threads woven throughout the dress in a chunky check pattern that make the fabric shine with each elegant swish. I felt like I could be in a live action Disney princess film with this dress on!

Attention to detail is in no short supply with this dress, from the frilled neckline to the ruffle detail on the puff sleeves and tiered skirt that takes this dress up a few notches on the fancy scale. A great year-round weight, the material is just thick enough to be truly opaque but not at all rigid, or heavy. Furthermore, the dress is designed and crafted similar to those priced 2-3x what this one costs, and is an absolute show stopper just the same. Unlike others of it’s caliber, the Nesli is made of cotton and can be machine washed and dried without fault, which is a big plus in my book.

On most ladies, this dress will fall at mid-calf just below the knee but on me it hits more like a midaxi at my lower calf just above my ankle (I’m 5’1″). Sizing is true if not slightly generous with the forgiving smocked style, so I recommend taking your usual size, or going down if you are between sizes. I took my usual XS here and it fits perfectly.

I’m not the type of person who saves things for the “perfect occasion” so you will find me wearing this dress around my house on a regular day, out running errands once the weather warms, on vacation, and just about everywhere to be honest. Harkening back to the days when people dressed to a higher standard, I am always searching for elevated basics, or comfortable yet elegant pieces such as this dress – after all, dressing well is a sign of respect not just for yourself but to others as well!
