Thanks to an abundance of fabulous pre-spring collaborations and sales from my favorite designers and small businesses, I’ve already got my entire spring wardrobe sorted.
If there’s one word to sum up all of the great collections that have launched and sales that have run this February, it’s extraordinary. From Dondolo’s romantic floral frocks, and sweet sugar-hued palettes; the elegance of blogger, Emily Hertz (Born on Fifth) collaboration with Dillard’s – think florals, svelte silhouettes and of course, blue; Lake Pajamas best-in-class pima pjs at stock-up-on-your-favorites prices; and Hill House Home’s English Garden nap dress collection full of elegant trellis prints and shimmering details, pre-spring ’21 is unlike any I’ve seen before. This may just be the best pre-spring yet, as far as catering to my specific tastes and style preferences is concerned! Never one to keep a good thing all to myself, I’m sharing an edit of my favorite pieces from each of these brands, and what I’ve bought so far for my spring wardrobe.
Dondolo
A children’s clothier who (thankfully) has branched out into coordinating women’s fashion is a constant source of inspiration for me. If you are searching for mommy & me (boys and girls) fashion this is your destination. Their collections are complete with elegantly coordinated separates, dresses, and accessories that ring of a more sophisticated place in time. The newest launch in collaboration with Nicola Bathie of Nicola Bathie Jewelry is nothing short of perfection, but truly, I haven’t seen a less than desirable collection yet. My favorite piece hands down is the “Nicola” dress in a bespoke floral print reminiscent of the timeless Bowood by Colefax & Fowler. Sweet shades of blue and pink give this dress an air of Marie Antoinette in 2021 and I am absolutely smitten! Always in search of a properly fitted swimsuit, I purchased this beautiful two piece in trellis print. Modest, yet full of detail and style; I’m looking forward to it arriving and trying it on!

This print is actual perfection – so sad to have missed out on my size but people are always making returns and I will be stalking the website for any of those, as the designer will not be restocking this dress.

I am always looking for high-waisted swimsuits in beautiful colors and prints, and this one may just be the creme de la creme! I’m looking forward to it arriving, and will update on fit and give a proper review of my first Dondolo purchase.
Born on Fifth x Antonio Melani for Dillards
Feminine style guru Emily Hertz from Born on Fifth blog launched her namesake collection with Dillard’s house brand, Antonio Melani today, and it’s the perfect chinoiserie inspired, blue and white dream. Designed to be a vacation capsule, each piece exudes femininity and lightheartedness. The dresses are printed in bespoke designs, the separates can be mixed and matched, and there’s even a mommy & me option! In addition to the svelte maxi silhouettes, there is a chic mini and an elegant midi. There are a few pieces left that you can grab for your Easter dress, vacation pieces, or to elevate your spring wardrobe. Follow the size chart, but it based on my last AM purchase (a two-piece swimsuit last year!) the sizing is accurate and fit is fantastic!
This top is my favorite piece in the collection! The color palette is so unique, the eyelet details are on point, and the bow tie in the back is just perfect – reminiscent of an Emilia Wickstead piece!
This top and skirt set is my second favorite. The print is gorgeous and timeless, and I love that there are endless possibilities with mixing and matching each piece!
LAKE pajamas
If you’ve followed my blog for any amount of time, you’ll already know now much I love this brand! Before ordering my first set years ago after visiting their Charleston store I didn’t think high-quality pajamas were a necessity; I was wrong. I am a light sleeper so to have one less thing to wake me up through the night is crucial to my sanity! These pajamas are by far the best I have tried (better than Eberjay and Roller Rabbit by a mile) in terms of comfort, material quality, fit, and aesthetic. I buy a new color every time, but think I will begin to circle back to the original color I chose, Hydrangea. It’s honestly such a unique color and I fall in love every time I look at it! I have not yet found a product from this brand that is anything less than phenomenal. I am wearing my cherry blossom weekend set, and mint green robe as I write this post! If you haven’t yet treated yourself to these pajamas, make. today. the. day! You’ll thank me later! I have all size small which gives me a relaxed, completely non constricting but also not at all baggy and oversized fit, but just ordered a shorts set in XS and will report back with fit details on that! Sadly the annual sale has ended before I could get this posted, but if you sign up for emails you get a 10% discount code, and you will be notified of future sales(I think they have one around Mother’s day)!
I highly recommend this bundle in color Hydrangea. I have this short-short set, but will be getting the long-long set next so that I can mix and match those pieces in my own bundle!
I also recommend this robe as it is the best year-round weight and SO SOFT! Most of their products are Pima cotton, which is the best cotton you can find for softness and durability. I particularly love this pink color!
Hill House Home
I’ll be covering the exact item I purchased from the newest HHH collection in a later post, but for now I have to share some pieces I think you’ll really love! What is perhaps the greatest thing to come out of 2020, the nap dress has found an enduring place in my wardrobe, as it has with droves of other die-hard fashionistas. Utterly gorgeous to look at, comfortable and uplifting to wear, and bound to garner loads of compliments (without fail), this is shaping up to be a staple in my spring outfit rotation. Pantone may have announced gray and yellow as their colors of the year (um…why) but all shades of light blue are by far the dominating color of choice for ladies with style! The sizing runs true to size – I normally wear an XS/0-2 in dresses and the XS in this is perfect – but you could size down if you’re between sizes thanks to the stretchy yet secure smocking and loose waist.
This stunning blue has silver threads woven in a check pattern that make this dress so special! This silhouette, the Ellie, is beyond flattering on every figure!
One item from this brand that does not get nearly enough attention for how great it is, are these regal padded headbands. I have the gold jacquard that I bought along with my tartan Ellie before Christmas, and it is the ONLY headband I have ever worn that does not squeeze and give me a migraine by the end of the day. It’s the perfect headband and it comes in a variety of colors and fabric choices. I also want to try their bejeweled headbands – talk about an elevated basic!
There are so many good collaborations and sales this winter that it’s easy to imagine we are already in spring! I’m manifesting warm weather and dreaming of days under the cherry blossoms and sunshine by sorting out my spring wardrobe early. If you’ve come to love any of my favorite brands, let me know in a comment below!
xo, Mia
