Creamy Neutrals For Fall and Winter

Sharing this easy to recreate monochrome ensemble that will transition beautifully from fall to winter.

I bought these jeans this autumn after a very long search for the perfect natural colored pair to add to my collection of preferred bottoms style. To say they have opened up new outfit possibilities is an understatement! Though the materials are the same, these are a bit more polished than blue jeans, in any wash. They elevate this casual cable knit sweater, and look minimalist-chic in this easy to recreate monochrome palette. The high rise and straight leg are right on trend for the last few years, and still going strong. Not to mention my new favorite thing, high-cotton content denim that’s both figure flattering and soft!

While I’m currently enjoying styling them in a monochrome palette, and with pops of fall color like in this post, I have so many more ideas for styling them with colorful knits, prints, sequins, and plaids. As the autumn version of spring’s white jeans, these are a fall staple every wardrobe should have.

Another smaller trend I’m loving right now is brooches. I actually can’t believe I’m saying these words! Brooches are no longer staples of the ‘greatest generation,’ no, grandmillennials have now claimed them and we’re changing the way people approach the brooch! (Couldn’t resist.) I first saw them used by this brand and love how they’ve combined a number of varying shapes and sizes in one space – as if jewelry wasn’t already exciting enough!

Pearls, shiny gold, soft cable knit, smooth quilted leather, rustic denim, and nubuck leather; monochrome is best executed when there are lots of textures and hues in play. With this in mind, I’ve opted for an ivory cable knit to contrast the structured white coat, a classic quilted leather bag with chain strap add more detail and dimension, while the cognac brown boots add an anchor and direction to lead the eye. While colors are fun to mix and match, I do love putting together a good monochrome ensemble!

If you haven’t tried your hand at monochrome styling, give it a try this winter! By following those basic rules you’ll be amazed at how fun it is to put monochrome outfits together, and will give you a new perspective on your current wardrobe.
