Two Years Later and My Barbour Jacket Is Still My Favorite Fall Item. Here’s How I’m Styling It Now

Each year as we begin to experience the first chill of true fall weather I excitedly unpack my favorite fall item once again. Carefully wrapped from the previous year’s dry clean, my Barbour jacket waits through spring, summer, and early fall to make it’s debut – somewhere around the time the leaves change into a similar color.

I generally stick to neutrals for outerwear for their versatility and easy transition through seasons, if needed, but being the perfect weight for fall I decided to deviate from of my usual choice and chose this gorgeous aubergine color. I can honestly say that I never get tired of looking at this piece! I particularly like the trademark Barbour tartan plaid at cuffs and hidden under the collar. It’s little details like that which excite me each time I look at it.

With four practical pockets I don’t always need to carry a purse, so this jacket is absolutely perfect for outdoorsy days spent hiking, or exploring. Two deep pockets to carry everything, and two vertical pockets above – lined with fleece – to keep my hands warm. They thought of everything with this jacket! This is definitely one birthday gift that has gotten it’s money’s worth, and then some.

For dressier days however, this jacket’s countryside aesthetic adds a cozy-cool British vibe and autumnal pop of color that completes any type of outfit. I’m particularly enjoying contrasting it with fall neutrals; creamy tones like stone, oyster, and ivory, and camel, beige, and tan have been my go-to’s this season!

This year I’ve fallen head over heels for neutrals, and my obsession, which began in summer has carried over into fall with looks such as this and this. I love these cream straight leg jeans with a flattering natural waist that accentuates just the right areas and have a high cotton content for holding their shape throughout the day. I opted for the sandstone color in ‘regular’ length with 26″ inseam, as I plan to wear them during fall and winter and needed a longer length. Paired with this preppy caramel tan cable knit sweater, they exemplify the perfect dressy-casual fall neutral outfit – they sort of provide a canvas for the jacket to really pop, too!

What have become my signature pearl earrings, which were an anniversary gift, have been in my almost daily rotation since receiving them in June! The color is spot on, the size is just right to stand out but not overwhelm, and the gold huggie hoop adds a bit of chic Parisian minimalism to whatever I pair them with. I cannot recommend them highly enough, and even with almost daily wear, they still look out-of-the-box new.

If you’ve been wanting a Barbour jacket may I encourage you to consider this amazing color – it shines so beautifully, and actually goes with so much more than I even originally anticipated! I can’t get enough of it, but if more muted colors are your forte this perfect fall jacket also comes in black, navy, and olive! Watch for Black Friday deals, or add it to your Christmas wish list, I promise you will love it too!
