An American Summer In Classic Colors and Prints Made By American Designers.
This summer I have been all about coral. I credit this to my eldest daughter, who has also been swooning over coral and wearing it just about every single day. I guess it’s grown on me, or perhaps its the instant tan I get when I slip this warm peachy summer hue on in my favorite silhouette! I’ve also been increasingly aware of where my clothing and accessories are being designed and manufactured, and am taking careful consideration to shop small, or American owned and operated businesses. Most of this outfit comes from small American businesses, who I am proud to support and highly recommend; keep reading!
I found this amazing dress a few months ago and instantly fell in love with the romantic shoulder straps in ruffle eyelet that’s mirrored in the flounce hem, breezy fabric, easy shape, and the overall Jane Austen-in-the-Bahamas vibe it gives off! It comes in a few colors, but this coral shade happened to be marked wayyy down so I got it. I actually don’t have any other coral pieces in my wardrobe, so I was happy to welcome this addition.
I’ve styled this dress a few ways this summer but by far my favorite is to pair it with my timeless Madras basket bag from this designer! Madras, or the summer plaid, is a timeless, preppy style staple. This beautiful Madras has the sweetest pastel blue, yellow, pink, and cream palette – no coral but still it totally works! I have a few basket bags from this designer and I can’t imagine buying a basket bag anywhere else. No one has such chic, classic, gorgeous styles, and the quality at their price point literally can not be beat. They also run frequent sales where you can snag your favorite designs for a total bargain. I can’t say enough good about this small American business!
Pearl accessories not only elevate this super casual look but soften the bright tropical coral hue, and stand out better than gold. I’m wearing my huggie drop pearls that hubby got me for our anniversary, along with my staple pearl bracelet from another small American business.
In these last few weeks before fall, I’m savoring every opportunity to dress in my favorite summer colors, prints and silhouettes! Unlike the past few years, I am not wanting summer to end this year. I will be carrying my love of shopping American brands into my fall purchases and beyond, and will be putting together a blog post with all the brands I’ve found, tried, and grown to love. Do you have any favorite American-owned, small businesses you’d like to see in that post? Tell me in the comments section below!
