It’s unbearably hot, it’s oppressively humid and the last thing on anyone’s mind is looking cute while they’re languishing in the unrelenting sun.

This is no time for layers, people! Lightweight, single-layer pieces in breathable fabrics is the name of the game this time of year.
So what’s a stylish lady to do?
Two things:
– Utilize exciting prints and colors.
– Accessorize!

I love this top as it looks like it could be a Rebecca Taylor piece, but at a fraction of the cost! This top is cut a bit short and has a lot of room in the under-arms but is a nice top otherwise, so I happily overlook those two easily dealt with issues. The flutter sleeves and pintucking at the neck are fun details that make this top interesting enough to be worn on it’s own, without layers.

These are my favorite generously cut denim shorts! They are smaller at the waist than at the hem, which if you’re pear-shaped like moi, is a dream find! I wear these multiple times per week as the high-waist looks cute with literally everything.
Recognize this belt? One of my purchases from Rachel Parcell’s April launch that I talked about in this post, this suede oval buckle belt remains my top pick for summer accessorizing. It goes with everything, adding a fun pop of color and pulling together a casual outfit for an elevated look!

Finally, these mules are another seasonal favorite of mine. I wore my brown flat-heeled pair all through the spring, and wear this fun gold heeled pair at least once a week all summer! I love how these mules can dress up a casual outfit, or dress down a more fancy outfit, like this dress here! These are lightly cushioned and super comfy to walk in. I am a size 8 in shoes, but take these (and their brown cousin) in a 7.5, as they loosen up and fit perfectly after a few wears.
