Just a few more weeks until it’s officially my second favorite season – spring! I love the slightly warmer temperatures that call for light layering, flowy fabrics and maybe even some skin-baring ballet flats! Not to mention blossoms, sunshine and finally getting out of the house after a winter of hiding out indoors. I’m ready for it!
My spring wardrobe is probably my favorite of all the seasons. It’s comfortable, it’s colorful and it consists of a variety of levels of warmth. Continuing with the red and navy theme I’ve had going this month, I wanted to share a few spring staples that every lady should have on the ready for when the snow finally melts and frosty mornings become just a distant memory.

The silk scarf
A small but mighty accessory – versatile, feminine and an accessory no spring transitional wardrobe should lack. I fashioned my old J.Crew scarf tied around my neck for a vintage 1950s vibe that’s just as classy today.

The crew neck sweater
Say goodbye to heavy wool cable-knits, turtlenecks and cashmere! A lightweight or mid-weight crew-neck sweater is the perfect spring staple that can be layered on cooler days, or worn on its own for slightly warmer spring days. This cotton Polo Ralph Lauren sweater is my favorite “nice” looking sweater (as opposed to strictly casual ones like you saw here, here and here). I have it in a few colors and love it’s versatility and weight. I got mine from the Polo outlet store.

The trench coat
Finally, the spring staple of spring staples – the trench coat! Perfect for every season really, the trench coat is most at home during spring when a light, waterproof top layer is a good thing to have handy. Mine is from Banana Republic and I’m wearing an XSP. I probably could have gone with a regular XS but I can’t stand the feeling of sleeves that cover my hands and as you can see, these are long enough. The material has no give so if you don’t mind a bit of resistance when you reach forward, get your regular size – if you do, size up.

Here’s to hoping for a long and lovely spring!
