It’s hard to believe Christmas and New Years Eve has already come and gone. I always do everything I can, physically and mentally, to ensure I relish every minute of this wonderful time of the year, yet it still seems to fly by. I made sure to slow down and not worry so much about keeping the house pristine, or staying on a schedule; not worrying about things that wouldn’t come for another few days or weeks and just keeping my mind present and focused on my family.
My parents joined us in Maryland just after Christmas to join in on the festivities. We continued our favorite Christmas traditions with the girls, dined with friends, were surprised with gifts we didn’t think we would find under the tree and gobbled all the Christmas treats!
Just before NYE, we got the rare opportunity to have an evening out with friends. This was necessary and so special because Dallas and Megan moved out of state last month, and this month Jake and Heather will be moving too. It’s so bittersweet saying goodbye – even for seasoned veterans like us who move every year or two! – we will miss having these two wonderful families as neighbors, but are so thankful for the time we have had to learn from each other, help one another and develop friendships that will last a lifetime.
Can you think of a better way to end the year? I feel completely refreshed, full of joy and optimism, ready to begin a new year with new goals, plans and a renewed mindset to handle whatever may come!
I wish you the best year yet for 2019 – may it be full of blessings from God, making happy memories with friends and family, and success in every area of your life!
