The Perfect Summer Dress – National Harbor, MD

Father’s Day weekend was full of summer fun. Saturday was spent at the pool and Sunday was spent at a fun little place called National Harbor.

We’ve been to National Harbor a few times since moving to Maryland, mostly for the outlet mall that’s nearby but also for the variety of good restaurant options that we don’t have where we live. Sunday, we hung out in the shopping/dining/tourist/residential area and skipped the outlet mall. This was an especially exciting trip for Layla, as we finally did something she’s been asking about for a year now….

The SkyWheel!

District of Columbia

The SkyWheel sits at the end of this pier along with a pirate ship that you can ride out into the Potomac! We enjoyed the views of D.C., Maryland and Virginia and spied tiny swan and dragon shaped paddle boats below.

Little white swans and little green dragons. MGM casino in the background.
All blue and white = fave.

If the gentle sway of the SkyWheel isn’t for you (it took all of my mental fortitude not to get sick!), you can always hang out in one of the many restaurant’s patios or on the AstroTurf lawn and watch the World Cup on the big screen!

During the winter they were showing Christmas movies on this big screen and there are movies shown during summer evenings too! I have never seen it much more crowded than this either. Plus, there is PLENTY of parking all over National Harbor, all within a very short walking distance to the main drag.

There are clothing boutiques like South Moon Under, novelty stores like the Peeps store, hot sauce joints, tea boutiques, and candy and sweets shops. There is something for everyone, which is why we love it!

National Harbor has excellent people watching as well! I loved seeing all of the fun summer dresses, rompers and jumpsuits that the style conscious women were rocking! And I was no exception 😉

Aren’t these earrings so cute?!
The BEST dress!

When I saw this adorable seersucker dress online at J.Crew Factory, I knew I had to have it! I love seersucker, blue and white, stripes, and a flattering silhouette! It even has pockets, which makes it the perfect summer dress. It hits me an inch or two above the knee, which the perfect length for a busy mom wrangling two little ones. The material is heavy but not hot (even when it’s 90 degrees and 200% humidity like it was in this picture!), the dress is lined throughout and has the most adorable back!

Mommy & Me seersucker dresses <3

Paired with my favorite summer bow slides, of course and a vintage white wicker handbag.

And the cutest lemon blossom earrings!

I can tell you now that this dress is going to be getting a ton of wear this summer (and summers to come as seersucker never goes out of style)!
