Saturday in Georgetown, D.C.

Georgetown has been on our list of places to check-out since we arrived in Maryland one year ago. We took a gamble over the weekend as there were storms in the forecast, but we didn’t want to postpone our adventure anymore. Built in 1751, Georgetown is full of gorgeous Georgian style architecture – one of my favorites! Not to mention, tons of shopping and places to grab a bite to eat! I’ll give you the speed-visit version of a day in Georgetown, as our 1-year-old, Lilly has needs and isn’t afraid to scream to let everyone know! So with the tiniest one’s comfort in mind, we started with lunch.

Pizza! Who doesn’t love pizza? Apparently Lilly, who on this particular occasion decided instead to eat a pile of parmesan cheese off a plate with her face. Ok then! Meanwhile, the rest of us thoroughly enjoyed our bruschetta, pizza margherita and meat lovers pizza. After spending a relaxing nine minutes eating lunch – because that’s what life is like with a baby/toddler – we set off to walk the streets lined with unique Georgian homes.

Lush greenery, colorful homes, moss-covered brick sidewalks, glossy black ironwork, and a few Vespas here and there – breathtaking!

Feeling right at home.

After ooh-ing and ahh-ing at the beautiful homes, we made our way back to the shops. We popped into a few – Madewell, Kate Spade, Free People and the one I could spend all day in, Tory Burch.

Finally, a little stroll past the canal and back to our horse-drawn carriage truck.

We had such a nice visit to this busy, energetic part of D.C.. There are so many places to see and enjoy and activities that we wanted to try but couldn’t because boss baby’s patience runs out really fast. I guess we’ll just have to spend another Saturday in Georgetown!
